Sue's Carrier

18 women spent a fun Saturday making Sue's Carrier.

Sue has the giggles!

Happy!

Speediest basket maker 3 times running!

This girl is happy!

One of our 14 year olds

Brenda is happy to help finish up that lashing.

We had two 14 year olds making baskets this time.

And now all of the lovely color combinations. Everyone makes Sue's design their own creation by using the dyed reed colors of her choice.

Orange and brown

Purple and Kelly Green

Same as above in better lighting

Red and ? (I think this was a dark green)

2 shades of Green

Teal and Rose

Orange and Brown

She was so pleased with her creation she had to strike a pose!

Work friends

Martha's basket!  I decided to branch out with my colors. I think this looks very EASTERY!

A view of the inside: The V's inside are called chicken feet!

Sue drills holes in the rims so that screwed in handles can be attached.

I am in love with these colors. It is such a pretty shade of teal.

Blue and Dark Blue

Brown and Tan

Grandmother helping secure grand daughter's handles:  What a great intergenerational bonding experience!

So proud of her accomplishments!!

Stain

I stained the rest of my baskets today.
Staining the baskets protects them and makes them appear rich and professionally finished.  Here is the product. It's available with the other stains at stores like Menards. I ordered mine from Amazon.

March 22 Basket Class, Fulton

Sue's Carrier is the featured basket for March 22.

You can personalize your Sue's carrier with colors of dyed reed, and sea grass that Sue will bring to class. The spiral design is unique. This is a smaller rectangular basket. I'm guessing the basket is about 7 x 11, a smaller basket that may not take as long as the other baskets we have made, hopefully. It can be used for a sewing or knitting basket or you might want to make it an Easter basket with pretty spring pastels.

Sign up deadline is March 15. Click the link below to sign up for this class.

Martha's Baskets

I've made these 5 so far.

Market Basket

This was my first basket. It was such a feeling of accomplishment!

Market basket is on the right.
Casserole on the left.

Large Casserole

The large casserole basket will hold an 11x17 casserole dish with room for utensils on the side OR it can hold 2 pies. This basket can be personalized with your choice of Sue's hand dyed reed and sea grass.

Brownie Basket and Toto Basket

Clockwise from left: Shorty, Easter Baskets, a Geranium Basket is mostly hidden

Shopper Basket

Tote with web handles

Tool Basket

This one looks like Noah's Ark. The bottom is wood and comes attached to the structure.
